All vacation rentals are subject to sales tax from the state and county as well as accommodations tax from the county and (often) city in which the rental resides. Our required taxes collected on each rental, either direct booking or through VRBO are:

NC State General Sales & Use Tax: 4.75%
Polk County Sales & Use Tax: 2%
Polk County Accommodations Tax: 3%

If you book direct:
If you book direct through our website, you will pay a $35 booking fee to help cover the cost of damage insurance. There are no additional fees, which can add up to a 14% savings on your stay versus booking through VRBO!

If you book through VRBO:
In addition, VRBO charges a guest service fee to help offset the cost of promotions, administrative, and business costs. That fee is a sliding scale based on the total booking amount, with longer stays seeing lower rates. The maximum fee is 14%.

A $59 insurance policy is also required on our cabin bookings through VRBO. Guests have preferred that option rather than having a hold on their credit card for a set amount for potential damages.

To see how the taxes and other fees will impact your nightly rate, go to the VRBO page and input your dates into the calendar. You will be shown a total amount for your stay before you hit “Book”.
